Founder and CEO of ecoTECH™ Design Studio, is a world-renowned artist who has brought his aesthetic to architecture and green building design for over 20 years. His photographic work is featured in museum collections at J. Paul Getty, the Smithsonian Institute, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and many more. Dating back to environmental work with mentor Ansel Adams, Doug has maintained a strong voice protecting the environment for upcoming generations, and has dedicated his work to the advancement of affordable solutions for ecologically sustainable living via his research and innovation center, ecoPark™, and the ecoTECH™ Team of LEED certified architects and green technology engineers. His architecture reflects holistic approaches to green design solutions in over 50 residential and commercial projects with the use of recycled materials, voltaic solar, water capture and re-use, drought-resistant indigenous landscaping, thermal solar, and the utilization of natural air circulation and ventilation.
With a commitment to nurturing youth in pursuing ‘green’ careers, Doug provides mentoring and access to leading technology and design experts via a learning center at ecoPark™ for advanced degree students from all around the world, through which they can learn-in-action as they co-develop green technology and sustainable living solutions. He is currently expanding ecoPark™ to provide living examples of best-in-class green technology and building design solutions, for the purpose of providing consumer education and as a retreat center for green business and academic institutions to co-evolve innovations.
Doug is founder of the No Strings Foundation, a charitable organization that provides grants to up-and-coming artists and green building designers. He holds patents on cameras, lenses, and accessories, and has been inventing product innovations for over 40 years. His design for a zero carbon heating and cooling system is now in patent search.
COO of ecoTECH™ Design Studio, is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), qualified in all Microsoft Windows client/server families and Macintosh environments with over 10 years of technical experience. Adam started his career at The Office of Emergency Management consulting on the development of their clustered server environment and remote mobile units. Adam also worked for Integrated Data Services (IDS) as their Systems Administrator and spear headed their Quality Assurance Team; Integrated Data Services is dedicated to the development and implementation of enterprise applications which support and promote more efficient Oracle-based financial solutions for the United States Air Force, Army, Joint Services, and other Department of Defense agencies. Adam went on to Start Busch Technologies, Inc. in the 90’s to service businesses in Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago.
Advisor holds a B.S. in Pre-Med from Davidson College in North Carolina and an MBA with a focus on technology and entrepreneurial studies from The Anderson School at UCLA. Ian’s early career included extensive international private power work on Duke Energy’s development team, acquiring and building large scale generation and distribution projects in Latin America, Australia, China and Southeast Asia. Subsequently Ian left Charlotte and headed West, where he was an analyst for the Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco. For the next two years Ian lived and worked in Latin America, Europe and Australia on projects in the electric and natural gas industries . After completing his MBA from UCLA Ian’s focus shifted to technology and he led several startups in the broadband media and wireless spaces raising over $10MM in funding. Two years of business planning and development work with The Esalen Institute in Big Sur rounded out a strong business background with broad exposure to Sustainable technologies and construction as well the human development sector.
Over the last 7 years Ian has honed his entrepreneurial skills successfully starting and financially harvesting two companies, one in the biotech equipment space, the other in micro wind energy systems. His expertise and passion lies in taking creative ideas and young companies, assembling operational teams, raising capital and growing them to successful exit.
Building Biologist The founder of Gust Environmental, Lawrence is a certified Building Biology Environmental Consultant and is President of the Board of Directors of the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology, where he continues to teach. Gust Environmental has served clients in the US, Europe, and Oman since 1993. The company specializes in complete assessment of indoor environmental health factors from the perspective of the growing human sensitivity to environmental toxins. Larry has evaluated and recommended remedial measures in over 1000 residential and commercial buildings. He also consults on the environmental aspects of the construction and remodeling of a homes and offices. He is a Certified Electromagnetic Radiation Safety Advisor (CERSA) through the Safe Wireless Initiative of the Science and Public Policy Institute (http://www.buildingbiology.net).
Larry has a 25-year business background with two Fortune 500 companies. He studied environmental technology at the International Institute for Building Biology and Ecology and received a BS Electrical Engineering degree and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.
Legal has represented corporations, partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability companies and other business entities in all forms of business matters for over 40 years. He is an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University School of Law, where he teaches a course in transactional law. As a member of the Section of Business Law of the American Bar Association and its Mergers and Acquisitions Committee, he co-chairs its Task Force on Acquisitions of Public Companies.
Industrial Design over the past 25 years, has been a key contributor to the development of successful consumer products and business ventures for companies like BMW, Siemens, Compaq, Samsonite, Phillips, Johnson & Johnson, Porsche Design Golf, Nokia, and Blue Microphones. He has held senior positions with BMW in their Southern California Design Center, Nokia Mobile Phones, and several start-up companies.
From 2000 to 2004 Todd held the position of Senior Design Development Manager for Nokia, Inc. He was hired by the Global VP of Product Design and the Chief Designer for Nokia, for a 3 year project to help create the innovative new luxury sub-brand, VERTU. The bold vision was to take consumer electronics to a completely new frontier. It was a 200 million dollar venture. A team of top talent from around the world was recruited. His responsibility was to help guide and manage the industrial design, engineering, graphic design, prototyping and model making processes. In addition to the product, the team also created the entire brand, brand name, logo, brand image and customer experience. All this while guiding external vendors, internal and external marketing groups, and manufacturing in order to achieve the perceived impossible. Due to the significance of his personal contribution, he was named co-inventor on 2 utility patents titled “Portable Communication Device”.
VERTU debuted at Fashion Week in Paris 2002 to worldwide acclaim. It remains one of the most successful and profitable groups within Nokia.
In 2005, Todd opened his own product development firm called Design + Vision. Since its founding, D+V has brought many innovative products to market and been responsible for the creation of over 2 dozen patents. Todd’s creations have received several design awards including Best of Show at MacWorld 2009 and the TEC Award in 2007 and has had products recognized by both CNN and MSNBC as one of their Top 10 Most Desirable Products.
In addition to creating products on behalf of his clients, Todd has also created his own products and co-founded 2 companies to support them. One of these is a water conservation product called ShowerMinder which was a finalist in the prestigious international product design competition called the Index Award. The other, and most recent, is Revolve Electronics. Founded in 2009, Revolve is bringing the worlds first Earth Friendly Electronics to market. It’s launch product is a hybrid mobile electronics charging system which simplifies peoples lives and provides back-up power on the go.
Energy Consultant brings 33 years of experience in the construction industry in government, private, commercial, and residential sectors, with a passion for making green technologies accessible and affordable for the mass market. Wayne is a member of the Ventura County Green Building Council (chapter for the USGBC-C4) where he serves as the strategic partners committee. With vast expertise in current and emerging forms of renewable energy, Wayne took on consulting for solar in 2007, specializing in affordable housing projects, including the $62 million WAV project in Ventura.
Upon joining the SBCA in 1995, Wayne started becoming aware of green building and later joined the Ventura County Contractors Association (VCCA). Wayne is now serving on the Board of directors for the VCCA, the and in 2003 started and chairs the Green Building Committee.
Additionally, Wayne became a trainer for the California Building Performance Contractors Association. Wayne has been presenting Passive Haus design since 2007 and Energy Efficiency first as the most cost effective approach to green building and sizing solar. Wayne now consults on Net Energy Building, Building Performance, and Passive Design for integrated solutions that are economically, socially, and ecologically sustainable.
Principle possessing years of experience in technology, strategy, and management. His passion for business, knowledge, and adventure has taken him all over the world. Bryan started as the youngest Salesperson on staff at Automotion, the largest Porsche aftermarket group, and worked his way to Regional Sales Manager. Moving forward, he created Eccentric Motors, one of the first alternative fuel companies to generate power from hydrogen and developed the first flexible fuel vehicle that could run on four different fuels. In Hawaii, Bryan started his own eco-tour company, where applying his innovative spirit he provided an experience never offered to the public before. Moving back to Silicon Valley where he was born and raised, he co-founded Higher Standard Solutions with his brother Erick. Higher Standard Solutions provides strategic technologies for companies like SAP, Microsoft, Honda and FOX studios.
In 2006 he co-founded GlobalGreen Energy, a green technology company specializing in solar energy, energy storage, and efficient lighting. Bryan managed the development of the company’s technologies, striving to keep it well ahead of the curve. GlobalGreen Energy customer base grew quickly throughout the US and 9 countries. It was sold in 2010.
Bryan Went has studied, traveled and lived all over world; competed in the Nissan Xterra World Championship Triathlon where he finished top 10 in his group; participates in many forms of auto racing including the alternative fuel vehicles for Eccentric motors.
Principle years of entrepreneurship, vision and marketing expertise on board. His never-ending curiosity and a passion for solving problems have kept him at the forefront of business and technology. His love of the environment was apparent from early on. Right out of college at University of California, Santa Barbara, where he majored in physics and mathematics, he founded Eccentric Motors, a pioneering alternative energy company. Eccentric Motors developed numerous technologies from multi-fuel vehicles to hydrogen power plants. Erick is a born entrepreneur, strategist and visionary with a record of success. A Silicon Valley native, he founded Higher Standard Solutions – a Strategic Technology company and led the company to steady profitability starting from the first year and continues to provide solutions to some of the biggest companies in the world. He has since founded, managed and driven countless startups to success. Most recently Erick has founded GlobalGreen Energy, a green technology company specializing in solar energy, energy storage and efficient lighting. Through his leadership, the company served at the forefront of green lighting with installations all around the world.
Principle is the President and Executive Director of PLACE (Projects Linking Art,Community & Environment), a nonprofit working in the US and the UK to build sustainable communities. PLACE works at the intersection of the arts, environmentalism and social justice, joining forces with communities to develop inspiring green places.
PLACE was named best green nonprofit in 2009 by GreatNonprofits.org. Chris has been actively engaged in the creation of innovative communities and sustainable facilities for eighteen years. He has worked in over two hundred communities, and been a leader in the creation of over $500 million of new facilities.
An innovator in the area of housing cooperatives, Chris worked to develop some of the nation’s early leasehold housing cooperatives for artists. His projects have won numerous awards from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the American
Institute of Architects and more.
Chris was invited to advise Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on her Strategic Energy Fund. He worked with Maryland Governor Parris Glendening to create the first community built from the ground up to embody Smart Growth principles. He worked with the Maryland General Assembly to create the first Arts Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, Plan.
Chris is a frequent keynote speaker in the areas of sustainable communities, live/work communities, ethical development, community and economic revitalization and the environment and was a 2009 Fellow to Stanford’s Center for Social Innovation.
Principle is the founder of everGREEN landscape architects, inc., was born into a family of professionally renowned designers practicing Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction, and City Planning in California since 1918.
Leland’s personal passion is seamlessly blending great garden design, sustainable science, and environmental steward- ship, whatever the design theme. He is on the Board of Directors of the US Green Building Council’s California Central Coast Chapter, is the 1st LEED AP Landscape Architect in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, is a LEED Trainer and recently co-authored Green Facilities Handbook. trains other green professionals as to the latest sustainable strategies In 2006, everGREEN received the Santa Barbara County “Green Award” for its cutting-edge innovation, and recently completed work on one of the most energy-efficient and environmentally-sensitive commercial buildings in California that received the highest rating, LEED Platinum.

Marshall Thompson is 20+ year veteran writer/producer/director and videographer of broadcast news, PR, information, education, legal, entertainment and advocacy video production as well as still photography. Marshall brings his world-wide experience to documenting ecoTECH™ Design Studio’s mission to re-think green on an international scale.

In a variety of roles, ranging from sales and marketing consultant to Chief Executive Officer, he has demonstrated his ability to analyze key business drivers, product trends and market opportunities to create successful products and growth strategies for companies such as Guitar Center, Blue Microphones, Road Ready Cases, and many more. Eli has extensive experience in establishing brands, assembling winning teams, introducing products to market, and managing product revenue streams of up to $60 million.

Randy Niswander, Partner, VP of Operations
Randy Niswander has over 22 years experience in various forms of manufacturing, including Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, Commercial goods as well as Recreational products, and owned his own manufacturing company for over 15 years. Specializing in complex 3 thru 5 axis 3D CNC machining, he adds vast knowledge of manufacturing and management while working closely with Design Engineers and client management. He has helped create solutions for the manufacture of simple to complex designs and implemented strategic plans to help bring products to market for clients such as, Taylor Made Golf, Calloway Golf, Ping, Lockheed, Boeing, Textron, Targus International, Blue Microphone, Pursuit Systems, and many more.
Dave Flanigan, Co-founder of Menlo Lab, brings 33 years of global business experience in the automotive and financial service sectors. As President of Ford Credit International, he led 9,500 employees and developed highly profitable financial services businesses in 38 countries with assets in excess of $35 billion and profit of $500 million. Dave has extensive background in strategic planning; product planning, acquisitions, mergers and divestitures; managing transnational joint ventures and integrations; and establishing start-up operations.
After retiring from Ford in 2002, Dave now brings his unique blend of strategic thinking, leadership coaching and business acumen to business, non-profit, community and institutional leaders. As co-founder of Menlo Lab, he helps lead whole-system, multi-stakeholder transformation initiatives aimed at creating economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable communities where residents can realize their fullest potential and highest aspirations for who they are and what they do.
Dave has an undergraduate degree in economics and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is a trustee for the Society of Organizational Learning and member of the MIT Presencing Institute
Tracy Huston, Co-founder of Menlo Lab, has been working with leaders from business, government, education, and non-profits for over 20 years in generating systemic change that ensures socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable approaches to business and product innovations, learning, and urban renewal. Her work with cross-sector leaders has led to creation of replicable models for “sustainable communities”, integrating the ‘hard structures’ and technologies that allow us to live in harmony with nature, along with the ‘soft structures’ that allow us to live in harmony as communities. Through Menlo, Tracy has co-created cross-sector networks in Los Angeles that are developing a whole “eco-system” of green technologies, building and community design, learning approaches and hands-on job training, along with the economic and governance systems needed to serve both people and planet.
Tracy has coached executives in the development of strategy and organization change initiatives at over 20 global corporations. She has worked with social services agencies in reforming their leadership, systems, and programs in ways that foster self-reliance among the clients they serve. And, she has worked with leaders, educators, and youth in generating systemic changes to education systems that not only improve academic performance but also address the holistic conditions needed to strengthen families and communities.
Tracy is the author of the book, Inside-Out: Stories and methods for Generating the Futures We Want (Society for Organizational Learning, 2007), and of numerous articles on the subject of cross-sector and whole system change. She has been invited as speaker at numerous systems thinking and organizational learning conferences.
